Exercise 1
Identifying Objects
Purpose: To start thinking about identifying objects.
Exercise:
Prepare a list of the kinds of object you would expect one or two of the following systems to handle:
- A computer program for laying out a newspaper
- A computer program for playing cards
- A flight reservation system
Hints on identifying objects
Good candidates for objects are:
- Nouns that you get when you describe the system, what it does, what the user can do with it, etc.
- Other systems, users or devices that the system needs to interact with.
- Things or events that have to be remembered.
Remember that the purpose of the exercise is to start thinking in terms of objects, not to find the "optimal solution" to each of these problems.
Cooperate
You will obtain more benefit from these exercises if you work in groups.
