URGENT DECREE N. 30
NOTICE OF PROCEDURE FOR COMPARATIVE CURRICULA
PROT. N. 739/2009 of 27/05/2009
THE DIRECTOR OF THE DIPARTMENTO DI INFORMATICA

Considered:

having to provide to recruit professionals with specific expertise at the Dipartmento di Informatica for cooperating in the project "FIRB Linguistica Santagata", whose responsible is prof. Giuseppe Attardi;

Considered:

the need to perform a comparison procedure of candidates, in accordance to Article 7 paragraph 6 of Legislative Decree 165/01, through an assessment of curricula, in order to identify the most suitable candidate, to whom to assign the cooperation task, given that in the University professionals are not sufficiently available with adequate specific skills as required for conducting the activities;

Taking into account:

that the activities will take place at the Dipartmento di Informatica, Largo B. Pontecorvo 3, Pisa;

Considered:

that this assignment is necessary because it is essential to acquire specific professional expertise, which it has been verified cannot be provided by the human resources currently available in the University and that a collaboration contract for the assignment should be activated for the duration of 36 months from 10/06/2009, as provided by Decree MIUR No. 190/Ric of 12/03/2009;

Considered:

that the task of the requested assignment is to develop techniques of statistical machine translation based on syntax and to implement a translation service for Web content pertaining to the Italian culture, for whose implementation the following specific professional skills are required:

• Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent;
• age not older than 32;
• expertise in statistical machine learning and object oriented programming of complex systems;
• experience in developing complex software applications;
• good knowledge of written and spoken English

Considered:

that the compensation provided for the position was established in € 74,988.00 gross;

Considered:

that this amount was determined based on an assessment of fairness with respect to the kind of duties to be assigned and to the results to be achieved;

Considering:

the urgent need to provide;

• a comparative procedure is called for issuing a cooperation assignment for carrying out the activities, goals and content of the duties specified in the introduction and having as purpose
  the development of techniques of statistical machine translation based on syntax and the implementation of a translation service for Web content pertaining to Italian culture;
• interested parties may send an application with enclosed curriculum vitae in European format for submission to the comparative procedure for assigning the collaboration contract;
• requests, according to the attached application form, with enclosed curriculum, should be sent by 19/06/2009, otherwise they will be excluded from the evaluation procedure, in a sealed envelope, addressed to Direttore del Dipartmento di Informatica, bearing the words "Procedura comparativa per curricula - P.U. n. 30 del 27/05/2009 - responsabile prof. Giuseppe Attardi " in one of the following ways:
  • by courier or registered mail addressed to Direttore, Dipartmento di Informatica, Largo B. Pontecorvo 3, Pisa, I-56127 Italy
  • hand delivered at Ufficio Protocollo Dipartmento di Informatica, Largo B. Pontecorvo 3, Pisa - Edificio C - Secondo piano, stanza No. 316, Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 12.30.

For applications sent by courier or registered mail as date of receipt it will be considered the stamp by the courier or by the accepting Post Office; for hand delivered applications the date on the receipt issued by the Ufficio Protocollo.

Curriculum vitae should clearly identify how the candidates meet the requirements of this call.

The received applications, with their curricula, will be subject to an evaluation whose result will be summarized in a report by the project leader.

Following the comparison procedure, on the basis of the received applications and considering the admission requirements, the Director of the Dipartmento di Informatica may proceed, provided the actual availability of financial resources and in accordance with the law, to confer the assignment.

This decree will be published by posting it on the board of the Dipartmento di Informatica and made available electronically on the Web site of the University and of the department itself.

This interim decree will be submitted for ratification to the Department Council.
